Description
Dominate the skies in this return to a style of game that rarely been seen since the ’80s.
You control a knight who rides atop a majestic bird, with the goal of eliminating your opponents who are also similarly equipped. Similar in concept to Williams’ Joust, Avian Knights features 256 waves and a number of changes that put it into the genre that Joust invented and is unlike any other.
Game Play
While Avian Knights features basic gameplay where you push flap to fly and you need to dismount your opponents, there are some notable changes from the Joust formula to pay attention to. These go beyond the additions of colorful backgrounds and a sound track.
The principle difference in game play is that there are now several weapons that players can grab – and upgrade – to gain the advantage in battle. These include a sword, a mace, a bow/arrow, a spiked helmet, and a glaive. Your bird can also gain an attack (fireball, poison gas cloud, or thunderbolt). Each weapon can be upgraded three times, making you a force to be reckoned with.
Players can also lay an egg so that if their knight is killed, it will hatch and you can keep going – all without losing a life. If your bird is killed but your knight survives, knights can use the egg to get a new bird. Knights can still attack with their equipped weapon during that sequence.
