Description
Time Crisis 2 Arcade Game
The Time Crisis 2 arcade game, the sequel to the wildly-popular Time Crisis, was released by Namco in 1998.
Plot
The beginning of the Time Crisis 2 arcade game is set in 1997, when a company called NeoDyne Industries reveals their plans for a network of 64 satellites that could unify the communication networks of countries all over the world. The plan is called the “StarLine Network”. A V.S.S.E. agent named Christie Ryan discovers that the company has plans to instead launch a nuclear satellite into space with the intention to sell it to the highest bidder.
Unfortunately for Agent Ryan, the company catches on to her and she leaves with a briefcase full of incriminating data. She escapes to a safehouse, but is followed by a NeoDyne agent going by the name of Jakov Kinisky. Kinisky and a band of mercenaries end up cornering and abducting her just as the player-characters, Keith Martin and Robert Baxter arrive. Both Martin and Baxter give chase in a boat-chase scene on a canal, forcing the boat to crash and kill Kinisky. Using the information in the briefcase, the agents determine that the satellite will be transported via a rural train station.
Players must continue to pursue the satellite though the game, until the final scene—The CEO of NeoDyne Industries, Ernesto Diaz, is preparing to launch the rocket containing the satellite into space. Diaz sends a cyborg assassin to keep Martin and Baxter busy while he’s completes the launch sequence. When the agents are able to defeat the assassin, Diaz opts to take Christie hostage and make his way to the launch controls. Once he arrives on the landing he activates the satellite’s prototype defense system and attempts to murder Christie by throwing her off the platform to her death. Baxter is able to catch her safely and then, with Martin’s help, destroy the rocket only seconds before its launch into space.
